In part 17 in our Google Ads Audit tutorial series, we'll go over Parental Status.
Here we'll be working in Data Studio report, then analyzing that data with the help of Google Sheets/Excel and Google Slides.
The information compiled in this audit can assist in making bid adjustments, exclusions or strategic campaign changes.
1. To get the data report, go to Google Ads UI, then find Parental Status, and confirm the date range.
2. Screenshot the chart data and copy it.
3. Paste the chart into the Analysis report page.
4. Export the initial Parental Status data report to Google Sheets. Remove the Parental Status headers.
5. Sort the data by cost, high to low.
6. Add the header Bid Adjustment; I filled in the first few as -5. Highlight and copy that data.
7. Go to Google Ads Editor, then Parental Status, hit Make Multiple Changes, then paste from clipboard. Click Process.
Then hit Finish and Review Changes.
8. Hit Keep under the Accounting heading. Then Post.
9. Share and link the Google spreadsheet for the client.
10. Then write the Analysis (link the heading). I say: “non-parents are causing most spend and clicks.”
And that's how to audit for Parental Status.
This tutorial series continues with the next and final audit which details Placements.
